Open lecture on U.S. Electoral Politics

Dr. Amy Lauren Lovecraft gives a lecture on U.S. electoral politics and what will happen in the 2012 elections. The lecture takes place at the University of Lapland on Friday, the 6th of May, 2011.

Dr. Lovecraft is an Associate Professor of Political Science in the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). She is currently on sabbatical as a Fulbright Research Scholar in Norway at the Center for International Climate and Environmental Research (CICERO). She has been invited to the University of Lapland through the Fulbright Intercountry lecture program.

This lecture will discuss the upcoming 2012 elections in the United States by drawing lessons from the political history of America’s electoral system. She will explain the development of the U.S. electoral system and its patterns of realignment since the Founding to provide context for a discussion of recent events and the current political climate. There will be time for questions and discussion following the talk.

The lecture takes place at the University of Lapland on Friday, the 6th of May, 2011, at 13:00–14:30 at the lecture hall 10 (University’s main building, address: Yliopistonkatu 8, Rovaniemi). The lecture is in English and everyone interested is warmly welcome! The lecture is organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences.
