Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority performs human radioactivity measurements in the University of Lapland 9.4.–11.4.2024
3.4.2024
Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority STUK is performing measurements of human radioactivity in University of Lapland during 9.4. – 11.4.2024. Measurement will take place inside a dedicated measurement truck in front of the main entrance (Yliopistonkatu 8).
The amount of radioactive substances in the body will be determined by a whole-body counter, which measures gamma radiation activity emitted by the subject’s body. Measurements are part of national environmental radiation monitoring program. You have now a possibility to sign up and join the research! Everyone can take part in the measurements. Measurement is free and takes 15 minutes. You do not need to prepare in advance, and you won’t be asked to take off clothes. The measurement itself does not cause any additional exposure to radiation. You will get the results immediately after the measurement.
