Research workshop on ‘AEPA-Wel’ will bring together scholars from multidisciplinary background to initiate discussions on different issues concerning older people in the Arctic. The workshop will be held at the University of Lapland from 26th -27th of January, 2017.
The workshop will particularly highlight the challenges older people’s facing in the Nordic upper north area and how current changes in Nordic welfare states interact with older people living in the Arctic region.
The participants of the workshop will be from the University of Umeå in Sweden, UiT the Arctic University of Norway, University of Akureyri in Iceland, University of Aarhus in Denmark, Uni Research Rokkan Centre, Bergen, Norway, University of Oulu and University of Lapland in Finland.
The workshop is part of the activities of the project led by Professor Päivi Naskali, and coordinated by researcher Shahnaj Begum, at the Unit for Gender studies from the faculty of education in the University of Lapland. It is funded by NORDREGIO within the Arctic Cooperation Programme for the year 2015 - 2017.
Workshop will start on Thursday 26th January 2017 at LS-10, at 10am.
