Science Centre in a Snow Cave
5.5.2010
Activities of the Arctic Centre’s Science Centre at the University of Lapland will move out into the mountain regions of Lapland for two days.
Instead of welcoming visitors only to the Arctic Centre in Rovaniemi, the Science Centre is taken into a snow cave along the route to Finland’s highest mountain, Halti, from Wednesday the 5th to Thursday the 6th of May 2010.
The Science Centre in a Snow Cave offers possibilities to discuss climate change related issues away from the normal setting of a science centre. It offers for example climate change quizzes, snow sculpting and different science experiments such as albedo experiments on the spot in the Arctic. Through a video shoutbox the visitors are encouraged to tell their own view on the climate change.
The Science Centre in a Snow Cave is open and free of charge for everyone, all passer-by’s either travelling by skies, snowmobile or reindeer. All visitors of the Snow Cave will get free entrance to Arctic Centre’s Science Centre in Arktikum house, Rovaniemi to get more familiar with the topic of climate change and the Arctic.
Welcome to the Snow Cave and to taste hot coffee made with Arctic solar energy!
