The arctic delegation of the Norwegian Parliament Stortinget will visit Rovaniemi and Helsinki from April 8 to April 10. In Rovaniemi, the delegation gets to know the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland, as well as to discuss with the mayor Esko Lotvonen about issues related to Barents region economic cooperation.
The delegation will visit the Arctic Centre in the Arktikum House on Monday, April 8, at 14–17. Paula Kankaanpää, Director of the Arctic Centre, introduces Centre’s activities and efforts to obtain the EU Arctic Information Centre hub in Rovaniemi. The delegation also gets an overview of, among other things, Sami research done at the Arctic Centre and Science communications from the Barents perspective and visits the Arktikum Science Centre.
Norwegian delegation is led by Stortinget’s Arctic Parliamentarians delegation member Eirik Sivertsen. Other members of the delegation are members of parliament: Inglalill Olsen, Geir-Ketil Hansen and Henning Skumsvoll.
