The River Lights spotlights the micro world of the river

The River Lights fire sculpture event focuses this year on micro world of the river environment: on cellular and element structure, microfauna and insects. The event is held on November 9, at 7 pm, aside Kemijoki River on downtown.

There will be artworks by the pupils of Rovaniemi Art School, Rovaniemi Steiner School and Lyseonpuisto High School. In addition, artworks are made by the students of the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland, an international student group from the partner universities of the Faculty of Art and Design, and the participants of the Vitus Festival.

The event is held aside Kemijoki River in the Rovaniemi city centre on Friday, November 9, at 7 pm. In addition to fire sculptures, the audience has a possibility to enjoy the works of University’s lantern workshop, as well as a flamenco show performed by Pauliina Jääskeläinen and Aleksi Laurila.

The event is jointly organized by the University of Lapland, the Vitus Festival, the Department of Cultural Services in City of Rovaniemi, the World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE) and the Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design network.
