The University of Lapland to transition to electronic Recognition of Prior Learning (eRPL)

The University of Lapland will adopt an electronic Recognition of Prior Learning (eRPL) system in early 2024. Until now, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) has been a paper-based process. The new system enables electronic submission and processing of RPL applications in the information system Peppi and covers applications for both substitution and inclusion of prior studies and other learning.

The eRPL process begins with the student completing an RPL application in Peppi, including attaching the necessary transcripts of records and certificates to the application either as file attachments or by creating a share link under MyStudyinfo at . The application first undergoes an initial screening, after which it is forwarded to a teacher in charge of the field of study the RPL application concerns or other designated decision-maker for processing. After acceptance or rejection of the application, the data are entered in the study register and the application is archived in Peppi.

The new system allows applications to be processed regardless of location, helps the student keep track of their RPL applications already submitted and to check the status of active applications, and enables to browse and view previously processed applications more flexibly than before. The new eRPL system is planned to be introduced on 14 February 2024. More detailed instructions on its use will be available by that time.
