Maria Kataja, student of clothing design at the University of Lapland, was one of three finalists in the Reclaim Project Design Contest organized by 686 outerwear and ISPO.

Finalists
of the 686 outerwear Reclaim Project Design Contest: Tim Gøddenhenrich
(on the left), Maria Kataja (in the middle) and Pernille Sax (on the
right).
The European contest was held at the
ISPO sports business trade show in Munich on February 3–5. Earlier this
year, the US contest had been organized at the SIA Snow Show in Denver.
The
aim of the contest was to design and make an original outerwear jacket
by using reclaimed materials, fabrics, trims and supplies from the 686
production facility. Other two finalists were Tim Gøddenhenrich from
Germany and Pernille Sax from Denmark. The judges were professionals
working in the industry, and according to them, the level of the
competition was high.
686 outerwear is an US company which produces outdoor clothing for snowboarding and skiing.
