University election meetings

The meeting for to elect the representatives of the other teachers, researchers, and personnel for the University Board will be held today, on Tuesday, 15th of November at 13–16 at the Fellman Hall. The election meetings for the Faculty Councils will be held tomorrow, on Wednesday, 16th of November.

The meeting for to elect the representatives of the professors for the University Board will not be held because there were only two candidates, both of which will be elected without voting.

Faculty Council election meetings on 16th of November:
– Faculty of Art and Design, at 9–12, Castrén Hall
– Faculty of Law, at 9–12, Lecture Hall 19
– Faculty of Social Sciences, at 13–16, Esko and Asko Hall
– Faculty of Education, at 13–16, lecture halls 20 and 21

Election documents (including the lists of candidates) are available in Finnish at the University Registry, at the Faculty bulletin boards and at the main lobby information desk. In addition, documents can be found at www.ulapland.fi/vaalit.

University Board election
The Board members within the University are elected, with the exception of student members who are appointed by the Student Union. University professors have two representatives; researchers, teachers and general personnel have two as well; and also students are represented by two members of the board. Five members or the Board are external members. The Board is elected for three years, student members for one year. The term of the new Board is from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2014.

Faculty Council election
Nine members and an equal number of personal deputy members are elected to each Faculty Council. Student members and their deputy members are appointed by the Student Union. The term of the new Faculty Councils is from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013.
