University of Lapland’s Environmental Programme for the years 2017–2019 has been published

University of Lapland’s Environmental Programme has been published. Released programme includes goals and actions for the improvement of environmental issues in our main campus for the years 2017-2019. Aim is to decrease the noticed environmental impacts and increase environmentally friendly activity without compromising work or study conditions.
The three-year plan includes clear numerical goals that help us to follow the progress in our work. Our goals are to decrease energy- and water consumption 5% as well as decrease combustible and landfill waste 5% from the level of 2016 by the end of 2019.
The environmental programme has been made as a part of our Green Office environmental management system. Our university’s Green Office team has members from separate units, faculties, subject associations, student union and service providers. Collaboration has enbled that different viewpoints has been taken into account in the programme. A consultant from Ramboll Finland Oy has participated in developing our environmental programme.
The Environmental Survey of the University of Lapland was arranged last autumn as a base for our environmental work. 319 students and staff members participated in the survey. Received results has also been taken into consideration in programme’s selected actions. The survey will be retaken in every three years with the update of the environmental programme.
