Volunteers to promote native languages

15.2.2012

The Language Centre is looking for volunteers to promote their native languages at the University Hall on Tuesday, February 21st, at 10:30–12:00

The International Mother Language Day was established in February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The day will be observed at the University of Lapland through a short seminar and so-called language tables at the University Hall.

The Language Centre is now looking for volunteers for the language tables to promote their own native languages. Each table, separated with a partition, will focus on a specific language and culture. The table hosts can design their own materials and customize their language table. The tables will be open for the public from 10:30 to 12:00.

If you are willing to promote your native language next Tuesday, please contact Ms Annukka Jaakola [annukka.jaakola (at) ulapland.fi] at the Language Centre by the end of this week.
