WONDER SEEKERS – Adventures in science

9.5.2022

On the 15th of June the Scientific Tourism project organizes an open seminar for tourism entrepreneurs on the benefits of learning experiences and science communication in tourism products. The event is open to the public, and directed especially at SMEs and entrepreneurs in the tourism business.

– As we strive to preserve our planet, an understanding of the interactions between people, cultures and natural scientific processes has never been more critical, says project manager Ari Laakso, of the Scientific Tourism project. The Scientific Tourism (SCITOUR) project supports northern tourism entrepreneurs to develop scientific tourism products for the market. Scientific tourism is a new concept, a combination of learning and experiences, where the sharing of knowledge and learning is an important part of the tourism experience. Such as sharing knowledge or local knowledge with tourists to increase and deepen tourists understanding of the experience. To this end, the project has created the WONDER SEEKERS brand and a website through which companies can market their science tourism products. The website has a fully funded marketing campaign. The project is funded by the Northern Periphery and Arctic programme.

WONDER SEEKERS is all about when tourism meets learning experiences. The goal of WONDER SEEKERS is to promote the visibility of Arctic tourism entrepreneurs to the community of science tourists and to act as an international marketing platform. Companies interested in science tourism can get their products on the website by applying to join the SCITOUR project network. Thus we invite you to join our event and our network of businesses.

At the seminar you will get more information about scientific tourism and can join a facilitated workshop on how to get started developing your products. Speakers at the event include researchers from the project and external experts in the field of scientific tourism. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from the marketing team, who are managing the marketing campaign.
