Enhancing competition and efficiency in public procurements (Comp_Eff_PP)
Funded by Research Council of Finland, 2021‒2025, decision no. 340042
Lead: Ari Hyytinen, Hanken School of Economics
In this project, we examine how efficiently public procurement (PP) auctions work and look for opportunities to suggest improvements to their design, regulation and monitoring.
It has been estimated that in Finland, spending in PP amounts to 30–40 billion euros per year. This implies that even a small increase in the efficiency of PP would translate into large cost savings.
Our work provides research-based evidence for the implementation of Finland's new national strategy for the development of PP markets.
