Local Summit: Contemporary Issues in Education in Multicultural North

Welcome to the local summit Contemporary Issues in Education in Multicultural North! 

The summit will be held on 29-30 January, 2020. The first day of the summit will be held at Nord university campus in Levanger (Norway) and it focuses on themes of education for culturally and linguistically diverse children, multilingualism and worldview constructions. The second day will be held at Stjørdal and the programme includes a visit to a local school. The summit aims to bring together teachers, teacher educators and policy makers to discuss contemporary issues experienced in multicultural North.

We warmly welcome all teachers, teacher educators, local authorities, policy makers and researchers to participate!

The summit is part of UArctic Thematic Network on Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity activities. The event is funded by project Transformative Teacher Education for the Sustainable North, funded by UArctic Norwegian project funding.

The summit is co-organised by Nord University, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Sámi University of Applied Sciences and University of Lapland.

REGISTRATION

All participants should register for the summit. Please read all information below before using the event online registration forms to register for the local summit. Deadline for registration is 17 January, 2020.

Participation fees (VAT 0%)
Participant: 40 € / ~400 NOK
Student: 20 € / ~200 NOK
Invited speaker: 0 € / 0 NOK

The registration fee includes lunches and coffees according to the summit programme. Participants are responsible to arrange and cover the costs of their travels and accommodation by themselves.

Payments
Please choose your payment type on the online registration form. The options are

•  Online bank transfer (Finnish banks)
• Online credit card payment (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)
• Invoice. The invoice with the necessary information will be sent to you separately by the conference office. The participant should assume all the bank transaction fees. Please remember to specify invoicing address on the registration form. Invoicing fee 10 € will be added to all invoices.

Please note that all payments must be made in advance and in euros (€). 

Cancellation policy
All cancellations must be made by email to congress(at)ulapland.fi. If you do not cancel your participation at all, you will be charged the full fee. For cancellations received by 2 January 2020, the paid registration fee will be refunded. No refunds will be made for cancellations made after this date. Please note that a processing fee of 20 € will be deducted from all refunds. If unable to attend, the registered person may substitute someone else from the same organization by sending a notification to congress(at)ulapland.fi. LOCATION

The first day of summit will take place at the Levanger campus of Nord University in auditorium "Orangesalen". The address of the campus is Høgskolevegen 27, 7600 Levanger.

The second day will be held in Stjørdal and the programme includes a visit to the Fagerhaug International School. The address of the school is Ligaardvegen 15, 7505 Stjørdal.

TRANSPORTATION

If you arrive from outside of Stjørdal/Levanger, it will be easiest to fly to Trondheim Airport, Værnes (TRD). Going from Trondheim to Levanger will be easiest by train. The train goes once an hour, and the one way trip takes approximately 1,5 hours. You can see more about trains from here. 

ACCOMMODATION
