The application period for 2013–2014 personnel exchange funding is ongoing at the University of Lapland. In recent years, the university personnel have actively engaged in teacher and personnel exchange, which has been recognized at the European level.
The university personnel have actively participated in the international
personnel exchange of the Erasmus programme: In the academic years
1997–2013 the University of Lapland has carried out 243 cases of teacher
exchange and 37 cases of Erasmus exchange. Last year, the Centre for
International Mobility (CIMO) nominated the University of Lapland and
Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences for publication in the
ErasmusSuccess Stories Brochure as Finnish success stories in the area of
personnel exchange. In this annual brochure the European Commission
highlights success stories of internationally active and advanced
universities participating in the Erasmus programme. The Finnish Erasmus
success stories of previous years were the University of Helsinki, the
University of Tampere, and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Outi
Snellman, Director of International Relations, notes that every case of
international exchange and all international activities are a great
asset to the university as well as the partner institution.
“Personnel
exchange enriches the partners’ experiences, increases their
professional skills, and thereby promotes the development and
internationalization of the institutions. The University of Lapland has a
host of examples of teacher exchange contributing to extensive
collaboration with international partners. For example, the Faculty of
Law shares a permanent cooperation model with the Riga Graduate School
of Law: Twice a year an exchange teacher gives a lecture here focusing
on his or her special area”, says Snellman.
The last day to apply for teacher, research, or personnel exchange is Monday 30 September.
