The second Arctic5 Arctic Inclusive Pedagogy workshop gathered together educators and students in Rovaniemi

The second two-days workshop of Arctic5 project was held on January 23-24 at University of Lapland in Rovaniemi. The workshop gathered together twenty professors, researchers, educators and students from five Nordic Arctic universities.

The first workshop of Arctic5 project was held on October 2018 in Tromso and it started the work with brainstorming and creating a first draft of curriculum of the joint Online Master Study Course on Arctic Inclusive Pedagogy.

The second workshop continued the work started in Tromso, by continuing co-creating the curriculum further and by developing the content and learning goals for the Online Study Course. The workshop group also chose Open Moodle as digital learning platform of the Online Study Course. The workshop was very successful and all the participants were satisfied with the workshop and its results.

The program of the workshop included working in smaller group formed based on the research interest of each participant, but also in one big group, to assure the consistency of the curriculum and balance between the parts of curriculum. The students participated in the workshop as equal members and contributed to the workshop by reflecting and leading the discussion on values in inclusive education and bringing the values in practice in the study course.

The planned study course will offer students new approaches and new content within each university – this kind of study program does not exist yet. The project group has also planned to start collaboration in research activities.
