Zoom and Kaltura

Zoom is a realtime video conferencing and messaging service, which functions much in the same way as Microsoft Teams. Zoom enables the most common functions used in teaching and online meetings. Moodle-integration allows teachers to create Zoom-meettings within Moodle. Zoom-recordings are saved in the video sharing service Kaltura. From Kaltura may recordings be shared to Moodle.

Kaltura is a video sharing service, this service serves as a platform from where Zoom-recodings are shared to students. Kaltura can also be used in teaching to share other instructional videos or to receive videos made by students. eOppimispalvelut will provide training on wider use of Kaltura in teaching during autumn 2022.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams enables its users to use text, sound and video in real-time conversations, and to hold online meetings. The application also shows the users’ availability status, which is based on their online calendars and manual settings.

You can use the service with Microsoft Teams software. It can be installed to PCs, Macs and most smart devices. The software has been pre-installed to the Windows workstations maintained by the ICT Services.

More instructions for using Teams can be found on the manufacturer's website.

Video conference

Our university has five video conference rooms where our staff can use the video conference service.

Video conferencing takes place by exchanging real-time video and sound via a video codec.
