Open University is for everyone

Our Open University offers studies that are available for everyone regardless of age or previous education.

We organise studies as online courses, contact teaching in Rovaniemi and in cooperation with dozens of educational institutions around the country. Our studies lend themselves to maintaining vocational expertise, preparing for entrance exams and degree studies, taking a productive gap year and gaining general knowledge. You are free to choose individual courses or modules based on your interest in the fields of:

• education
• law
• art and design
• social sciences

About our studies

We also offer language and methodology courses to complement your studies. Our English-taught studies include Finnish for Foreigners 1–4 and a number of courses provided by the faculties of the University of Lapland.

Our Open University offers one route to degree studies, while also being responsible for some all-year degree studies at the University of Lapland by organizing language courses for degree students during summertime. ULapland and Lapland UAS degree students may also attend Open University courses offered in autumn and spring terms free of charge provided that the courses are not full.
