Most of the funding of the Finnish universities is core funding from the state, but this funding alone is insufficient to accomplish our goals of developing education and large-scale research and artistic activities. The state also obliges universities to actively seek funding from external sources and through the matched-funding scheme encourages universities to engage in fundraising.
At the beginning of 2010, with the changes in the law governing universities, the status of our university changed from a government agency to a public-law entity with an independent financial position.
Your donation will directly support the operation of the University of Lapland (Universities Act, section 2). The donation is gratuitous and without conditions.
The University of Lapland has a fundraising permit (number RA/2020/1016) granted by the National Police Board of Finland. The permit is valid from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2022 in Finland, excluding Åland.
