Kajsa Kemi Gjerpe is a phd candidate
at the Centre for Sami Studies, UiT the Arctic University of Norway.
She is doing her phd on Sami education in Norway, looking specifically
at Sami content in curricula and textbooks.
Rauni Äärelä-Vihriälä
Presentation title: Language nest pedagogy in Sámi early childhood education
Rauni Äärelä-Vihriälä is a 36 years old PhD and a class teacher. Her studies focuses on a topic of Sámi language immersion in Finland.
Rauni is also an M.A. from the University of Lapland, class 2007. Last fifteen years she has been working as a class teacher and a sámi language teacher in Sompio primary school, in Sodankylä. Currently she is working as a principal in Sompio school. Sodankylä is her hometown, where she lives with her family. She is a mother of two children.
As a sámi herself she is interested in her society educational developing. Especially learning materials in the sámi language classes and in the sámi education for generally. Rauni is a member of steering group in a primary school sámi as a foreign language studies learning material called GEA 1- Gollemeahcci.
