Our Degree Programme in Industrial Design offers high-quality teaching and acts as an international pioneer in Arctic design.
The studies intertwine seamlessly with networking in the business world and working as a part of an international research community. By graduation students will have acquired strong expertise in the theory and practice of industrial design, wide-ranging skills and the ability to apply their skills in the research and business world.
We conduct cutting-edge research on design and take part in significant national and international research and art forums. The main focus of our research is in product design, and our research approaches emphasise the special characteristics of Arctic design.
We have put together an English-taught study module in Industrial Design for our exchange students. Check the Admissions pages for further information.
Product Design
In product design studies you will design industrial products. Besides aesthetics, you will need to take the usability, producibility and financial considerations of the products into account. As a result, you will create products that are cost-effective and comfortable to use, and also please the consumer's eye in terms of their design.
Service Design
Service Design seeks to better consumers' lives by developing services that are experiential, practical and easy to use. This is done by using creative, user-oriented and practical methods of design and by cooperating with providers and consumers of services.

Interaction Design
Interaction design studies introduce you to different types of interfaces and teach you to design ones that are pleasing and easy to use. The research within the discipline examines mobile, wearable and multichannel interfaces, for instance. We will explore them using the principles of user-centred design.
