Doctoral Dissertation: Drones Challenge Aviation Safety Rules

Unmanned aircrafts – drones – have brought about a significant change in civil aviation. They present a number of problems, in particular when viewed from the perspective of aviation safety and security law. In his doctoral dissertation, LL.M. Mikko T. Huttunen examines the problematic of drones and the legislative approaches addressing it.

Writing skills and writing modalities are constantly changing and evolving with the digitalisation of working life, education and living environments. In her dissertation, MA Satu-Maarit Frangou examines three different writing methods: handwriting, typing on a computer keyboard, and typing on a touchscreen keyboard of an iPad or phone, and their connection to recollection among children, adolescents and adult university students.

Academic of the Year – Researcher Nafisa Yeasmin

Nafisa Yeasmin, Doctor of Social Sciences, has received the Academic of the Year award granted by the Finnish Union of University Researchers and Teachers (FUURT). She works as a project manager at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland. Yeasmin is an active academic and a social activist whose research has a high and direct impact on the society. Yeasmin received the award on Friday at FUURT’s International University seminar held at Aalto University in Espoo.

On the International Women’s Day on Friday 8 of March 2019 Professor JoAnne Sweeny from the University of Louisville from the United States will give the public lecture in Arktikum library in Rovaniemi on #MeToo movement.
