The summer school is organized by the unit of Social Work at the University of Lapland in collaboration with the Skidmore College (US) and FHV Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (Austria). The summer school takes place at the University of Lapland from 23 May to 4 June 2022.

Studies offered to Ukrainians free of charge

The University of Lapland supports Ukranian nationals by offering them studies for free. Ukrainian refugees in Finland may engage in Open University studies until 2023 or apply to the university for a non-degree right to continue their studies. Both options are offered to Ukranians at no cost.

The Finnish Foreign Trade Promotion Fund (SUE), the University of Lapland, and the University of Eastern Finland signed a collaboration agreement in spring 2020 with an aim to support master’s theses that address the internationalisation or export of companies in Lapland and eastern Finland. Following the autumn 2021 application round, the grant was awarded to Miira Lehto’s thesis that explores the discourses of sustainable luxury in tourism.

Vice presidents for education outlined on the development of entrance examinations and scoring of certificate-based admissions

Finnish universities’ vice presidents for education agreed on launching a joint development project to develop student admissions. Entrance examinations will be digitalised, their content developed, and their number significantly reduced. The needs for development were identified jointly by the universities particularly as a result of admissions carried out over the course of the national state of emergency. The development work will be discussed at universities during the autumn.
