Salaried doctoral education at the University of Lapland: successful candidates appointed

At the turn of the year, the University of Lapland announced four paid doctoral education vacancies. The positions relate to the new, multidisciplinary doctoral education alternative ”The Arctic in a Changing World”. Halve the land ice contribution to sea level rise by following the Paris Agreement target of limiting warming to 1.5°C

New research from a large international community of scientists predicts that, if we meet the Paris Agreement target of limiting global warming to 1.5°C instead of continuing with the current contributions to mitigating climate change, sea level rise this century from the melting of ice could be halved. Greenland ice sheet losses would reduce by 70%. The exact sea level rise contribution from Antarctica is less clear, as uncertainties are higher.

The new international Master’s degree in service design

The new international Master’s degree in service design, "the Service Design Strategies and Innovation" (SDSI) envisages to kick off in the Fall 2021. The new programme focuses on interdisciplinary studies and cross-specialisation in design, business, technologies and social sciences. Graduates will be awarded with a Master’s double degree, one from the University of Lapland and one from the Art Academy of Latvia.
